Days Sixty One & Sixty Two

Days 61 & 62
July 16th & 17th
Thursday & Friday

We had a wonderful day of sightseeing on Mackinac Island.  We enjoyed a horse drawn carriage tour, then walked around Fort Mackinac learning about the interesting history and seeing the tremendous views of the island from there and tasted fudge, they are famous for theirs and there is at least one fudge shop on every block. We took the tandem on the ferry so we could ride around the island, a beautiful ride that went entirely around Mackinac Island.  We also learned the correct pronunciation of Mackinac and that Mackinac Island is on Lake Huron, not Lake Michigan. The Mackinac Bridge is the boundary between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.

That evening we enjoyed a campfire complete with s'mores!

Friday Ronnie did maintenance on the bicycle. The timing chain needed tightening, put on a new front tire, and we will replace our cycling computer in Mackinaw City tomorrow. Not sure why ours quit working, but it is a must have to follow the turn by turn directions on the Adventure Cycling maps.

Tomorrow we will cross the Mackinac Bridge.  Bicycles are not allowed on the bridge so the Mackinac Bridge Authority  will pick us up and carry us across.
