Day Sixty Seven - Garlets Corner, Michigan to Lake George, Michigan

Day 67
July 22
Wednesday
68 Miles
Garlets Corner, Michigan to Lake George, Michigan

Following the U.S. 20 Bike Route East we rode on Old M 63, 14 Mile Road, and 15 Mile Road. The day was very nice with beautiful scenery. We have been amazed at the tree lined roads and amount of forests throughout Michigan. The farm land is on green, rolling hills. Much of the farm equipment still used in these small communities would be considered antiques in Texas and mostly be seen in museums or parades. We saw a farmer cutting hay with a Farmall tractor and sickle, and another using a John Deere Poppin' Johnny.

Along the way something we have never seen before but continue to see here is 'on your honor' stands selling firewood, jams & jellies, baked goods, and fruit. These are small stands individuals have in front of their homes with products, a price list, and money box. You select the product, place your money in the box, and you are on your way. Also, what we call convenience stores in Texas and Colorado are called Party Stores in Michigan.

A very nice community we rode through turned out to be mostly Amish homes and farms.  It was interesting to see the horse drawn buggies, a horse drawn hay rake, black smith shop, lumber mill, and immaculate farms.

Late in the afternoon we arrived in the community of Lake George to camp at the Lake George Campground.
