Day 29
June 14th
Sunday
61 Miles
Chester to Havre
Twenty nine days on the road, 1131 miles
In the first twenty miles we were putting on rain jackets. Today we had a head - cross wind that was cold to go along with a steady climb. It never rained hard, just sprinkled.
At 22 miles we took a break in Rudyard. We found a wonderful local cafe where we enjoyed breakfast and a nice break. When we left the sun was shining. It stayed cool all day, so it was a beautiful afternoon to ride.
We enjoyed seeing more trains rolling across the plains. We saw antelope grazing in the fields, they are a little larger than the ones we are used to seeing in the Texas panhandle.
We were pulled over by the sheriff for riding on the road, he informed us we could be fined for not staying on the shoulder. We apologized and told him we would stay on the shoulder, unfortunately that was not always possible because the shoulder had a double rumble strip OR the rumble strip was down the center of a narrow shoulder.
