Day 19
June 4th
Thursday
39 Miles
Noxon, Montana Junction at Highway 200 & Highway 56 to Troy
It was 41 degrees when we left the campground. The day was spent climbing into the mountains following Bull River. There were several 'old growth' cedar groves along the route. The climbs were not too difficult but made it more work to get to Troy and we were very tired when we arrived there. We saw what we thought was a bear in a distant meadow, and later saw several deer. The large mountains and vast meadows made us feel very small, like we were a million miles from anyone. We enjoyed the peaceful day because of the quiet beauty that surrounded us.
In Troy we reserved a Yurt along the Kootenai River, nestled in the trees. We enjoyed sitting on the patio watching beautiful birds we have never seen before that would not stay still long enough for a photo.
