Day 34
June 19th
Friday
54 Miles
Glasgow to Wolfpoint
After the first 16 miles on Highway 2 we rode on the Indian Scenic BIA 1 on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation for around 35 miles. There was very little traffic through the green rolling hills planted with hay and peas, we were told the peas are raised for cow feed. We saw two white tailed deer along with many birds, ducks, and geese.
We had hoped to go farther today but dealt with a head wind all day then a severe thunderstorm moved into Wolfpoint shortly after we arrived. We stayed at the Sherman Inn. Also staying at the Sherman Inn was the cyclist from Alaska we met in Malta. Camping in Wolfpoint was not an option after looking at the camp grounds and most locals told us it was not safe to camp or to be out after dark in Wolfpoint.
Yesterday Ronnie tightened our loose timing chain, today he replaced the back tire on the bicycle that was worn down to the casing. We called ahead to the Dakota Cyclery in Medora, North Dakota and they will have a spare set of tires for us when we arrive there on Monday.
