Day Thirty - Havre to Harlem, Montana

Day 30
June 15th
Monday
43 Miles
Havre to Harlem

Hurry up and wait...the bike shop owner decided not to open today until 1:30.  Thankfully fixing the spokes only took 30 minutes.  We also purchased extra spokes to carry with us.  This put us on the road around 2 pm with a cloudy, cool day and a head wind. This was also our first time to ride in the evening. Shoulders were narrow and there was heavy traffic until we passed Chinook.

Overall the ride was good as we passed alfalfa fields and meadows of tall grass.  It was fun watching the birds land in the fields.  They disappeared in the grass like it opened up and swallowed them.  many of the birds were Gulls, at times it sounded like we were at the ocean.

Around 6:30 we arrived at the Harlem City Hall for free camping and use of the City Hall office bathrooms.  We did not have showers but the facilities were very clean and offered hot and cold water.  Mosquitoes attacked us the minute we set foot on the grass so we tested our all natural spray.  It worked really well.

Harlem was a nice town. Lots of kids swimming, riding bikes, and playing outside. It was great to see a community with so many kids out side having fun.
