Day Thirty Two & Thirty Three - Malta to Glasgow, MT then a rest day

Day 32 & 33
June 17th & 18th
Wednesday & Thursday
72 Miles
Malta to Glasgow then a rest day

Today would be a long distance for us.  Our first rest stop was 26 miles into the ride at Saco and yes the mosquitoes were as bad as we had been told.  As we sat on a bench beside the library people stopped to visit with us.  One man told us Saco is one of the top five places in the WORLD for the most mosquitoes according to a worldwide study done by Michigan University.

We stopped and toured the the one room school house that Chet Huntley attended along with the first church and first jail of Saco.  The Garden Club of Saco has done a wonderful job of maintaining this part of Saco's history.

Our second break was recommended by a 91 year old man we met in Saco.  He told us to stop in Hinsdale for a home made sandwich at Sweet Memories.  This cafe had wonderful homemade food - sandwiches, cookies, pies, and also served coffee and ice cream. The owners were a joy to visit with making us feel very welcome.  The entire community was very friendly and welcoming to cyclist. There is camping available but we needed to put in 30 more miles or we would have stayed in Hinsdale for the night.  The town is a gem in Montana!

We took one more quick break at a rest stop.  Storms were starting to build behind us so we needed to keep moving.  We rode hard trying to beat the storms but they caught us with ten miles to go.  A hard down pour followed us all the way in.  The only positive from t he storm was the great tail wind it
provided. As we arrived in Glasgow we decided against setting up camp in the rain.  We called the Cottonwood Inn getting their last room available.

As we arrived at the Inn we met a very sweet young couple, Amy and Jack.  They are riding a Cannondale tandem from North Dakota to Spokane, Washington.  In the excitement of getting a hot shower and out of the cold wet clothes I forgot to take their picture so...If you read this Amy, please email me a picture of you guys for my blog!  Safe travels to you and good luck in your new adventures!

Day 33 - we decided to take a rest day to do a little maintenance on the bicycle, wash clothes, and relax.
