Day Eighty One - Redfield, New York to Old Forge, New York

Day 81
August 5th
Wednesday
Miles 61
Redfield, New York to Old Forge, New York

A cool, cloudy morning start for a beautiful ride today!  We had breakfast at Otter Limits & The Nook Motel. The owners took very good care of us and we highly recommend this as a stop for anyone on the Northern Tier.  They gave us alternate directions to Oceola, filled our water bottles with ice water and wished us well on the remainder of our journey. It would be fun to return to Redfield, a great place to hike, fish, and relax-such a beautiful area.

Our route was along tree lined roads, rolling hills, and lakes.  This was the most scenic day we have had in quite some time.

We stayed at the Old Forge Campground in a camper cabin.  We planned to camp in our tent until the employees told us we would have black bear come around looking for food.  Not a question of if they would but when because many people feed them.  They said to yell at the bears and they should leave, if not call the office and someone would assist you.  We decided we would not sleep worrying about the bears and asked for a cabin.  After traveling to Inlet, NY (10 miles past Old Forge) the following day we wish we would have stayed there, a cute town with a nice bike shop called "Pedals and Petals".

We don't like to ride the grated bridges, the tire walks on the metal grates and they can be slippery.
We got off to walk one of the bridges and saw this little guy crossing the road.
