Our Flight from Denver to Seattle

May 15, 2015 arrive Seattle, Washington
Flying Southwest Airlines with a tandem bicycle and a trailer was easier than we expected. The box our bicycle was in was 100 inches long, and the trailer was packed in a box that was 46 inches long. We took our items to the oversized area where a very nice attendant stayed with them while we checked in.  We told the person at the check in counter that we had two oversized items, a bicycle and trailer.  We paid the additional fee for oversized luggage, received our claim tickets, and she wished us well on our trip.

Upon arrival in Seattle, Alan rented a mini van.  He and Nickie loaded it with everything except the bicycle, then drove to our hotel, about 8 blocks from the airport.  In front of the airport, Ronnie and I unboxed the bicycle, put the handlebars back on, then loaded it in the mini van when Alan and Nickie returned to pick us up.  We were pleasantly surprised a tandem fit in the mini van.  At the airport an airport maintenance man took the box for us.  He told us he has had many single bike boxes to discard, this was his first double.

Nickie did a great job finding a hotel for the two nights we were in Seattle. Our hotel, Cedarbrook Lodge was impressive. Very nice, very clean, with comfy beds and lots of extras. It was close to the airport but you could not tell since the grounds were immaculate and surrounded by tall trees and greenery.  Our last nights in a comfortable bed for a few days...maybe weeks!
